• How do we deal with a spill of Universal
Waste?
— Batteries
Acid is the primary hazard from spilled or broken batteries. Always wear
the appropriate PPE: Rubber Gloves, Apron, and Eye/Face protection
Use an acid spill kit to neutralize the acid. Then place the broken battery
and spill neutralizer into a plastic bag. Finally mop the area to remove
any final residues.
— Mercury Thermometers or Switches
Prevent people from entering the spill area and notify your HSE
Coordinator for cleanup instructions and assistance. Cleanup of liquid
mercury requires special precautions and may need a mercury spill kit.
3/26/2020 Amazon Confidential 27 EHS
