(Wright) and has the following comments.
In December-1998, three underground storage-tanks (UST) were removed from the subject
property. In February 2003, six direct push soil borings were advanced onsite; soil and grab
groundwater samples were collected for analysis. Laboratory analytical results reported total
petroleum hydrocarbons and fuel oxygenates in the soil and groundwater samples collected .
near and down gradient from the former UST and dispenser island areas.
Wright proposes to perform a sensitive receptor survey to identify all wells and potential
receptors located within a 2000-foot radius of the former UST area. Wright further proposes
to continue this investigation with the advancement of six Geoprobe direct push soil borings,
followed by the installation of four groundwater monitoring wells. The Geoprobe borings will
be advanced to not more than 25 feet below surface grade (bsg); soil and grab groundwater
samples will be collected for analysis. Following completion of the Geoprobe investigation
and receipt of the analytical results, four groundwater monitoring wells will be installed onsite.
The EHD approves the proposed scope of work with the condition that analysis for ethylene
dibromide is added to the analytical suite, and that prior to installation of the ,groundwater
monitoring wells a site map with"tlie proposed well locations be.submitted toJthe-EHD for
approval. The EHD recommends that one soil boring be extended beyond first groundwater,
to investigate the vertical extent of the contaminant impact.to.groundwater; that one boring
:be advanced between the former UST area and boring B-4 and be extended beyond 25 feet
bsg to investigate the vertical extent of the contaminant impact to the soil; and that the boring
proposed to be located near B-2 be moved east to be located in the presumed upgradient
direction from the former UST area. if you have any questions please call Lori Duncan at
(209) 468-0337:
Sincerely,
7
Lori Duncan,'Senior REHS Nuel.C.-Henderson, Jr., PG
Registered Environmental Health Specialist Engineering Geologist
cc: James Barton, CVRWQCB, 11020 Sun Center Drive #200, Rancho Cordova CA 95670
John Lynch, Wright Environmental, 2395 East Pescadero Avenue, Tracy CA 95304
