For the specific soil sample analyses, please refer to Tables A through F Copies <br /> of the excavation activity analytical laboratory reports and chain-of-custody forms <br /> are presented in Appendix C <br /> EXCAVATION AND STOCKPILE SAMPLING PROTOCOL <br /> Excavation Soil Sampling <br /> Verification soil samples were collected from the excavation base or sidewalls as <br /> appropriate Soil samples were collected from the excavator bucket by removing <br /> the top few inches of soil and pushing a clean, six-inch-long, two-inch diameter, <br /> brass sample tube into the soil until completely full The ends of the sample tubes <br /> were covered with aluminum foil and sealed with plastic end caps The samples <br /> were then labeled, placed in a cooler with ice, entered on a chain-of-custody form <br /> and transported to a Sequoia Analytical, a State-certified laboratory, located in <br /> Redwood City, California <br /> Stockpile Sampling <br /> Discrete stockpile samples were collected for approximately every 25 cubic yards <br />• of soil generated Sets of four samples were composited into one sample for <br /> analysis by the laboratory All stockpile samples were collected by removing the <br /> top 6 to 12 inches of soil in each stockpile, then pushing a sample tube into the soil <br /> until completely full The samples were sealed, labeled, logged on a chain-of <br /> custody form, placed in a cooler with ice and transported to the laboratory Drill <br /> cuttings from the soil borings were stockpiled on the site After receipt of the <br /> chemical analytical report the drill cutting stockpile was removed by Integrated <br /> Waste Management <br /> DRILLING ACTIVITY SUMMARY <br /> Exploratory Soil Borings <br /> On February 6 and 7, 1996 exploratory soil borings MW-1 through MW-4 and B-1 <br /> through B-4 were drilled by V&W Drilling, Inc to total depths ranging from 16 1/2 to <br /> 27 feet bgs The locations of the soil borings and monitoring wells are shown on <br /> Figure 1 A truck-mounted drilling rig equipped with eight-inch diameter hollow- <br /> stem augers was used to drill the eight exploratory soil borings The borings were <br /> logged by a Touchstone geologist using a modified Unified Soil Classification <br /> System (ASTM-2488) Investigative procedures are presented in Appendix A <br /> Exploratory boring logs and key are presented in Appendix B <br /> 9-8264tpwn page 4 <br />
