r03 March 2005
r AGE-NC Project No 98-0452
' 3.0. FINDINGS
Ground water elevation, gradient and flow direction were calculated from field data The Impact to
' ground water was assessed by laboratory analysis of the ground water samples
' 3 1 GROUND WATER GRADIENT AND FLOW DIRECTION
The elevation of ground water in each well was calculated by subtracting the depth to ground water
I from the surveyed well head elevations(Table 1),ground water flow direction and hydraulic gradient
were determined from the elevation data The depths to ground water, calculated ground water
elevations, ground water flow directions and hydraulic gradients for the second, third and fourth
' quarter monitoring events are presented below
3 1 1 Second Quarter (28 June 2004)
Depths to ground water ranged from 3 84 feet to 5 76 feet below the tops of the well casings Ground
water elevations at the site ranged from 1 11 feet(MW-4)to 143 feet(MW-6)above mean sea level
(MSL) The ground water gradient was calculated to be approximately 0 002 foot/foot (ft/ft) with
a trough-like flow toward the southwest (Figure 3) Average depth to ground water was 4 72 feet
' below the tops of the well casings and dropped an average of 0 14 foot between the March and June
2004 monitoring events
3 12 Third Quarter(30 September 2004)
Depths to ground water for the September 2004 monitoring event ranged from 4 50 feet to 6 38 feet
below the tops of the well casings Ground water elevations at the site ranged from 0 26 feet(MW-4)
' to 0 77 feet(MW-6) above mean sea level (MSL) Ground water flow was radially inward towards
a west-trending, trough in the potentiometric surface (Figure 4), ground water gradients ranged
between 0 0016 ft/ft near the former UST location and 0 0035 ft/ft near the AST locations Average
' depth to ground water was 5 54 feet below the tops of the well casings and dropped an average of
0 82 foot between the June and September 2004 monitoring events
' 3 1 3 Fourth Quarter(16 December 2004)
IDepths to ground water for the December 2004 monitoring event ranged from 4 40 feet to 6 09 feet
below the tops of the well casings Ground water elevations at the site ranged from 0 45 feet(MW-5)
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
