Turner Road; Lodi
We have attempted to review the report submitted for the above referenced
facility. Our review is somewhat hindered due to the lack of; adequately
presented material.
It is difficult to ascertain whether our concerns expressed in the letter '
dated August 2, 1988, have been addressed; specifically, the c,ontaminatian at
approximately 40 feet at borehole #4.I1 No detailed site maps werepresentedta
illustrate the excavation that tools place at the site. The May 3, 19$9
report indicates composite samples from the bottom of the excavation and
composite grab water samples were tak`6n. This can only be construed as a '
screening mechanism as discrete sampl!4ng at pre-determined and pre-approved- .
sampling points is recommended. s
We do recommend additional samplingtake place; however, due .to the conditions-
of the open excavation, additional sampling at this time may not ee feasible.:1
A sampling plan should be presented too San Joaquin County Environmental Health
and to the Regional Water Quality Control Board for. review prior to any
additional sampling activities at the site.
In addition, quarterly sampling of tte existing monitoring wells-'and monthly w
measurements should take place immediately to accurately determine groundwater
dillAugust 2, 1988, expressed concern that the
gradient. Our original letter date "
gradient had not been adequately demonstrated. To date, this has not been.
addressed.
Item 4 in the May 23, 1989 report suggests plans for in-situ. bioremediation.
Considering the lack of data at thisltime, it is premature to propose a soil.
remediation plan. This proposal of bioremediation must haveiconcurrent review
and comments from the -Department of Health Services, Alternative Technology`.
and such comments should be submitted to San Joaquin County Envirorsmental;;;'
Health upon DHS approval. .
1.3
H.
I
'f
A 1)ivisi0n 0 I San foagnin Cotjnry Health Care Services
- III !
