The wells will be developed at least 48 hours after well completion by removing at least five well
volumes of groundwater, or until the well water is nearly sediment free. Each monitoring well will be
developed by hand bailing the monitoring well with a new disposable or TeflonTM bailer.
A surveyor will measure the X,Y,Z locations and elevations of the newly installers groundwater
monitoring wells. Well head elevations to the nearest 11100°i of a foot will be provided for each
groundwater monitoring well.
The soil cuttings will be contained in DOT approved 55-gallon drums. Purge water generated during
the investigation will be stored in DOT approved 55-gallon drums. These drums will be labeled and
stored on site until they are properly profiled for disposal. ATC will collect grab samples from the
drums for analysis of TPH-D (EPA Method 8015M), BTEX and MTBE (EPA Method 8020), and
ignitability.
Field Sampling and Analysis
The proposed field investigation will involve collecting groundwater samples quarterly from the
former UST area wells for four quarters. The following sampling and analysis plan has been
developed. Groundwater is expected to be encountered at a depth of approximately 27 feet below
ground surface (bgs).
Groundwater Sampling — During quarterly groundwater monitoring, each well will be developed by
removing at least three well volumes of groundwater prior to sampling. Additionally, purged water
will be monitored for pH, conductivity, and temperature until stabile. Wells will be developed and
sampled with a new disposable or Teflonrm bailer. One groundwater sample will be collected from
each well. The groundwater samples will be placed into the appropriate laboratory-supplied containers
for the analysis to be performed.
Investigation Derived Waste (IDW) Management - SoiI cuttings and decontamination fluids will
be contained in Department of Transportation (DOT)-approved drums. Purged groundwater will
also be contained in DOT-approved drums. The IDW will be stored at an on-site location
determined by site personnel. The drums will be labeled with a description of contents and
accumulation start date.
Sample Analysis — Groundwater samples will be analyzed for TPH-D (EPA Method 8015M),
BTEX, and MTBE (EPA Method 602). Groundwater and soil samples collected at the site will be
analyzed by Kiff Analytical, a State certified laboratory located in Davis, California. A trip blank
sample provided by the laboratory will be submitted with each round of samples. Trip blank
samples will be analyzed only if laboratory contamination is suspected in the well samples.
Additional soil samples will be collected from the soil cuttings for characterization of the IDW
and evaluation of disposal options. The analyses are anticipated to include TPH-D, BTEX, and
MTBE. These analyses will be performed by Kiff Analytical.
ATC Associates Inc. 4 75.75128.0001
