I24 January 2003
• AGE-NC Project No 99-0657
' 3 4 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
TPH-g was detected in the water samples collected from wells MWI,MW2,MW4,MW5 and MW6
' at a maximum concentration of 2,800 micrograms per liter(µg/l), In the sample from MW 1 TPH-d
was detected only in the sample collected from MWI at a concentration of 300 gg/l
' BTEX compounds were detected In water samples collected from wells MWI, MW2, MW4 and
MW6 at the maximum concentrations of 220 gg/l benzene(MWI),91 pg/1 toluene(MWI),26 µg/1
ethylbenzene (MWI and MW4) and 241 gg/l xylenes (MW6)
' MTBE was detected in water samples collected from wells MWI, MW2, MW4, MW5 and MW6
at a maximum concentration of 230 µg/1 (MW2)
' 1,2-DCA was detected in water samples collected from MWI, MW4, MW5 and MW6 at a
maximum concentration of 42 µg11 (MW6)
' No other fuel additives were detected at or above laboratory detection limits in the ground water
samples analyzed The analytical results of water samples collected In October 2002 are summarized
' on Table 2 The laboratory report (CTEL Lab Project No CT214-0210057), QA/QC report and
chain-of-custody form are included In Appendix G
4.4. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS
' The following conclusions were drawn from the results of this investigation
• In general, the site stratigraphy consisted of alternating layers of silty and clayey fine sands
' and fine to medium sands with silt, separated by an approximately 10-foot layer of fine to
coarse sand with clay Laterally discontinuous clay layers occurred at approximately 10 feet
bsg, 25 feet bsg and 45 feet bsg, laterally discontinuous coarse sand layers occurred at
' approximately 5 feet bsg, 40 feet bsg and 45 feet bsg
• Target analytes were not detected In soil samples collected from pilot borings MW5 through
' MWS The lateral extent of petroleum hydrocarbon-Impacted soil Is defined, the vertical
extent of petroleum hydrocarbon-Impacted soli Is not defined in the vicinity of well MW 1
' • The ground water elevations ranged from 5 77 to 6 44 feet above MSL Ground water Is
Inferred to be flowing radially outwards from southwest at the west side of the site to
southeast at the east side of the site, the ground water gradient was approximately
' 0 005 feet/feet The ground water elevation at the site Increased an average 0 08 feet between
. the July 2002 and October 2002 monitoring events
1 Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
1
