LEGAL DESCRIPTION: <br /> Assessor' s parcel number 147-16-98-5, which consists of lots 2, <br /> 13, & 14, block 98, South of Mormon Channel, containing approxi- <br /> mately . 33 acres; refer to EXHIBIT C for a portion of the <br /> Assessor' s parcel map. <br /> REGIONAL GEOGRAPHIC SETTING. <br /> The property is located in the southwestern part of the city of <br /> Stockton, in an area which is zoned primarily for light manu- <br /> facturing & industrial use. There are some residences an the <br /> area, and several vacant, undeveloped lots Center Street, a <br /> major one-way street, (south, ) is a short distance to the east <br /> Stockton city hall & County administration buildings are approxi- <br /> mately one mile to the north. PLATE I shows the location of the <br /> property relative to other features. <br /> GEOLOGIC & GEOMORPHIC PROVINCE: <br /> The property is located in the southern portion of the Sacramento <br /> Valley, at the eastern end of what is referred to as the San <br /> Joaquin Delta. This is a large area of sloughs, islands, and <br /> channels that were formed by the meanderings of the Mokelumne, <br /> San Joaquin, & Calaveras rivers. The Stockton deep water channel <br /> is to the northwest, and Mormon slough is 1/2 mile to the north <br /> Surface drainage is to the west, at about 10 ' per mile, with very <br /> low relief_ The elevation at the site is approximately 12' msl <br /> datum. Refer to PLATE II for a portion of a USGS topographic map <br /> which gives more information concerning the area. <br /> SOIL TYPES- <br /> According to a 1952 University of California publication, soils <br /> in the area consist primarily of Stockton adobe clay, which is <br /> usually brown to dark brown in color, calcareous, with hardpan <br /> subsoil layers undelain with unconsolidated material . It is <br /> derived from older floodplain & terrace deposits, with a Storie <br /> index of 28. PLATE III is a portion of a soils map from that <br /> publication <br /> DEPTH TO GROUNDWATER: <br /> Based upon the San Joaquin County Flood Control District map for <br /> Spring, 1994, groundwater is about 50' bgl at this location <br /> However, during the spring of 1983 & 1986, Flood Control District <br /> maps indicate that the water table was about 27 ' bgl during those <br /> periods; PLATE IV is a portion of the spring, 1986 map from that <br /> agency. <br /> 2 <br />
