County EHD by January 15, 1995; see EXHIBIT B for details. Wm_
J Hunter & Associates was retained by the owners on January S ,
1995, and due to the short lead time, requested extensions in
order to prepare the workplan, which is submitted here.
WORKPLAN FOR SOIL/GROUNDWATER INVESTIGATION
Because of serious space constraints, excavation of additional
soil as not considered feasible, & mobilization of an auger rig
will be extremely difficult. Utilizing the Leaching Potential
Analysis worksheet for gasoline, (Table 2-1 from the LUFT
Manual, ) the levels of contamination measured in the soil sample
taken from beneath the tank site exceed those allowable to left
in place. Therefore, we are proposing to place one ( 1 ) soil
boring in the center of the site of the removed UST. The soil
boring will be advanced to groundwater, estimated to be at about
50 ' bgl at this location; it will then be deepened to at least
10' below the water table an order to complete as a monitoring
well The proposed location of that soil baring/monatorang well
is shown on PLATE V, the actual location of the removed UST &
numerous other features will be accurately determined prior to
commencing operations.
All field activities will be under the direction of a registered
geologist from Wm J Hunter & Associates A general health &
safety plan is attached as EXHIBIT I .
WORKPLAN.
1 Mobilize a properly licensed auger rig equipped with
sufficient clean auger flights to complete the soil boring/monT -
toring well without the necessity of decontaminating equipment.
The rag will be equipped with an approved core-sampling device
designed to hold metal tubes for obtaining soil samples The
coring equipment will be operated either by a conventional drive
hammer, or a wireline operated system to allow continuous coring
of desired PLATE V is a general site map showing the proposed
location of the soil boring/monitoring well .
2. Cores will be taken at 5' intervals from 5' bgl to the
capillary fringe; a portion of each core will be promptly covered
with teflon tape & plastic end caps, sealed with duct tape,
labeled & placed in a sealed ice chest for later transport to a
State Certified laboratory for analysis. Unused core material
and drill spoils will be stored in metal drums, clearly labeled,
and stored on location pending results of laboratory analysers.
3 After obtaining a soil sample from the capillary fringe, the
hole will be advanced at least 10 feet below the water table and
completed as a monitoring well. It will be completed as shown on
4
