05 June 2008
AGE-NC Project No. 95-0141
ground water samples in the selected shallow(water table),intermediate(near 60 to 90 feet bsg),and
deep(greater than 100 feet bsg)ground water sampling intervals identified by the CPT sounding and
the current monitoring well network screen intervals.
Proposed CPT sounding and soil boring locations are shown on Figure 2. CPT advancement and
testing procedures are outlined in Section 3.1. Ground water sampling procedures are outlined in
Section 3.2.
The ground water samples will be analyzed by a State of California Department of Public Health
(CDPH)-certified laboratory for the following constituents:
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g), in accordance with EPA
Method 8015 Modified; and
• Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes(BTEX),and fuel additives tertiary butyl
alcohol(TBA),di-isopropyl ether(DIPE),methyl-tertiary-butyl ether(MTBE),ethyl tertiary
butyl ether (ETBE), tertiary amyl methyl ether (TAME), ethylene dibromide (EDB), and
1,2-dichloroethane(1,2-DCA),by EPA Method 8260B.
Laboratory reports for ground water analysis, testing methods, and laboratory quality
assurance/quality control(QA/QC),and sample chain-of-custody documentation will be presented
in a report with findings and recommendations.
2.3. MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION
AGE proposes to install one deep ground water monitoring well in the former UST area,as part of
additional site assessment activities, to define the vertical extent of hydrocarbon-impacted
groundwater in the source area, approximately 5-10 feet south of existing ground water extraction
well EX-2. The location of the proposed monitoring well is illustrated on Figure 2.
2.3.1. Drilling and Soil Sampling
\l
A truck-mounted,hollow stem drill rig equipped with 8-inch diameter hollow-stem augers will be
utilized to advance the monitoring well boring to approximately)18 feet bsg. The depth of the well G
screen was based on previous soil evaluation from boring CPT-1.The total depth of the boring may
vary according to hydrogeologic/geologic conditions encountered during drilling. Selected soil
samples collected during the boring operations will be analyzed by a CDPH-certified laboratory for
the constituents listed in Section 2.2.
