I
I
07 March 2003
' AGE-NC Project No 95-0141
' Apprcximately 4 5 to 6 5 gallons of water were removed from wells MW-9A,MW-I OA,MW-11 A
and MW-12A and approximately 16 to 28 gallons of water were removed from wells MW-8B,
MW-9B, MW-10B, MW-I IB and MW-12B Purged ground water was containerized in properly
labeled DOT-approved model 17H 55-gallon drums and was stored on-site Field sheets and data are
included in Appendix D
2 3 MONITORING WELL ABANDONMENT
On 22 and 23 October 2002 monitoring wells MW-1,MW-2 and MW-4 were abandoned by Cascade
Drilling, utilizing 8 25-inch diameter hollow stem augers to drill out wells MW-1,MW-2 and MW-4
to their total depths Subsequently, each borehole was completely backfilled with a portland cement
grout mixture to one to two feet below surface grade, a ratio of six gallons of water for every
94-pound sack of portland cement was utilized in preparation of the grout mixture The remaining
Iareas were backfilled to surface with neat cement
lie2 4 QUARTERLY WELL MONITORING
On 28 October 2002, the fourth quarter ground water monitoring event was conducted at the site,
Ififteen wells were monitored and sampled
I2 4 1 Well Monitoring and Evacuation
A Solinst water level meter was used to measure the depth to ground water in wells MW-3,MW-5,
I MW-6, MW-7, MW-8A/13 through MW-12A/B and EX-1 relative to the tops of the well casings,
the ground water elevations and gradient were determined from these data(Table 1) After the depth-
to-ground-water measurements, a minimum of 3 casing-water volumes of water was purged from
each well using dedicated, disposable plastic bailers to purge wells MW-3,MW-5,MW-7 and MW-
8A through MW-12A and a Watera Hydro-Lift 11pump to purge the remaining wells Approximately
4 to 14 gallons of water were removed from wells MW-3, MW-5, MW-6, MW-7, and MW-8A
through MW-12A,and approximately 21 gallons ofwater were removed from wells MW-8B through
MW-12B
I Temperature,pH and conductivity of purged ground water were measured at regular purge intervals
using an Oakton water analyzer The field data and field sheets are included in Appendix E Purged
water was temporarily stored on-sate in 55-gallon DOT-approved H-17 storage drums pending proper
Idisposal
I
Advanced GeoEn"ronmental,Inc
I
