26 June 2002
AGE-NC Project No 95-0141
3 2 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
Monitoring wells MW-1 through MW-8 were sampled on 17 May 2002,the analytical results of the
ground water samples were as follows
• TPH-g was detected in ground water samples collected from monitoring wells MW-1,
MW-2, MW-3 and MW-6 TPH-g concentrations ranged from 370 micrograms per liter
(gg/1) in MW-3 to 100,000 gg/1 in MW-1 (Figure 4)
• BTEX compounds were detected in the ground water samples collected from the same wells
at concentrations as high as 8,400 gg/1 benzene, 19,000µg/1 toluene,3,400µg/1 ethylbenzene
and 14,000 gg/l xylenes, In sample MW-1, the areal extent of benzene is Illustrated in
Figure 5
• Fuel oxygenates were not detected in the ground water samples collected from the site
• 1,2-DCA was detected in ground water samples collected from all monitoring wells except
MW-1 (Figure 6) Concentrations ranged from 7 0 gg/l(MW-5)to 120 gg/1 (MW-8) EDB
was not detected in the ground water samples collected from the site
Laboratory results of water samples analyzed for petroleum hydrocarbons are summarized in
Tables 2, 3 and 4 The laboratory reports for the quarterly monitoring event (CTEL Laboratory IDs
0205-126-1 through 0205-126-8) QA/QC reports and chain-of-custody form are Included in
Appendix B
4.0. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS
The findings of the 17 May 2002 site Investigation events include the following
• Measured ground water elevation is approximately 11 98 feet below MSL, and was inferred
to flow radially outwards toward the southwest, south and southeast
• Ground water was approximately 9 2 to 10 7 feet above the screened intervals of MW-1
through MW-5 and was approximately 40 feet above the screened interval of the deep well
MW-6, since these wells were "drowned", they may not have yielded samples fully
representative of ground water conditions near the top of the saturated zone where fuel
hydrocarbons would be expected to have the greatest Impact
• TPH-g was detected in ground water samples collected from four of the eight monitoring
wells at the site (MW-1 through MW-3 and MW-6), at concentrations as high as
100,000 µg/1
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
