' 26 June 2002
AGE-NC Project No 95-0141
• BTEX constituents were detected in four of the eight ground water monitoring wells with
' concentrations as high as 8,400 pg/l benzene, 19,000 µg/1 toluene, 3,400 µg/1 ethylbenzene
and 14,000 gg/l total xylenes in water sample MW-1
' 0 Fuel oxygenates were not detected in any of the ground water samples collected
• 1,2-DCA was detected in ground water samples collected from seven of the eight monitoring
' wells at the site at concentrations as high as 120 gg/l (MW-8), 1,2-DCA was not detected
this quarter in ground water sample MW-1, although historically the highest concentrations
of the analyte have been detected in samples collected from well MWA An explanation for
' the non-detection of 1,2-DCA in well MW-1 is unknown
• EDB was not detected above laboratory reporting limits in the samples collected during the
' May 2002 monitoring event
• The horizontal and vertical extent of contamination related to the former UST has not yet
been defined In soil or ground water
5.0. RECOMMENDATIONS
Based on the results of this and previous investigations, AGE recommends continued quarterly
monitoring of the ground water monitoring network
An AGE-prepared Work Plan Addendum, dated 09 April 2002,was approved by the EHD by letter
dated 07 May 2002 The scope of work includes abandoning three `drowned' ground water
monitoring wells, installation of additional shallow and deep ground water monitoring wells,
installation of one ground water extraction well and performance of a ground water extraction
feasibility test Upon pre-approval by the UST Cleanup Fund, AGE will schedule field work with
the EHD
6.0 LIMITATIONS
Our professional services were performed using that degree of care and skill ordinarily exercised by
environmental consultants practicing in this or similar localities The findings were based mainly
upon analytical results provided by an independent laboratory Evaluations of the hydrogeologic
conditions at the site have been made from a limited number of available data points(i a monitoring
wells and ground water samples) and subsurface conditions may vary away from these data points
No other warranty, expressed or implied,is made as to the professional interpretations, opinions and
recommendations contained in this report
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc
1
