The Project Health and Safety Officer (PHSO) shall: <br /> ■ Direct all health and safety aspects of investigative, monitoring, and remedial activities <br /> conducted by SOMA personnel at the site and vicinity; <br /> ■ Ensure that all SOMA personnel have received required training, are aware of the <br /> potential hazards associated with site operation, have been instructed in the work <br /> practices necessary for personal health and safety, and are familiar with the site <br /> health and safety plan's procedures for all scheduled activities and for dealing with <br /> emergencies; <br /> ■ Direct required exposure monitoring to assess site health and safety conditions; <br /> ■ Prepare any accident/incident reports; <br /> ■ Modify the site health and safety plan as required, based on accidents/incidents and <br /> findings regarding personnel exposures and work practices; and <br /> ■ Report all accidents/incidents and findings regarding personnel exposure and work <br /> practices to the Project Manager. <br /> 5.3 Site Safety Officer <br /> The Site Safety Officer (SSO) shall: <br /> ■ Ensure that appropriate personal protective equipment is available for SOMA's site <br /> personnel and enforce proper utilization of personal protective equipment by all on-site <br /> SOMA personnel; <br /> ■ With guidance from the PHSO, observe subcontractor's procedures with respect to <br /> health and safety. If the SSO believes that a subcontractor's personnel are or may be <br /> exposed to an immediate health hazard, the SSO shall suspend the subcontractor's <br /> work. If the subcontractor's personnel do not have required protective equipment, the <br /> SSO shall consult with the PM or PHSO before proceeding with the work; <br /> ■ Implement the project health and safety plan and report any observed deviations from <br /> anticipated site conditions anticipated in the plan; <br /> ■ Conduct site safety briefings as needed; <br /> ■ Calibrate monitoring equipment daily and properly record and file results; <br /> • Under direction of the PHSO, perform required exposure monitoring; <br /> ■ Maintain monitoring equipment or arrange maintenance as necessary; <br /> - ■ Assume other duties as directed by the PM or PHSO; and <br /> 4 <br />
