Field personnel shall be familiar with the physical characteristics of investigations, <br /> including: <br /> Wind direction in relation to restricted work areas; <br /> Accessibility of other personnel, equipment, and vehicles; <br /> Areas of known or suspected chemicals in soil and groundwater; <br /> Site access; <br /> Nearest water sources; and <br /> = Location of communication devices <br /> Personnel and equipment in restricted work areas should be limited to the number <br /> - necessary to perform the task at hand. <br /> All wastes generated during investigative activities at the site shall be disposed of as <br /> directed by the PM. <br /> Inspect power cords for damage such as cuts and frays. Suspend cords with nylon rope <br /> or plastic ties only. <br /> When in doubt of your safety, it is better to overprotect. <br /> Practice defensive driving. <br /> A first-aid kit and a type of ABC fire extinguisher shall be kept at the site and in a field <br /> vehicle when performing fieldwork. <br /> 12.0 EMERGENCY RESPONSE <br /> In the event of an accident or emergency condition, the procedure specified below shall <br /> be followed immediately. <br /> 12.1 Medical Emergencies <br /> Remove injured or exposed person(s) from immediate danger if possible. <br /> Evacuate other on-site personnel to a safe place until it is safe for work to resume. <br /> y If serious injury or life-threatening condition exists, call 9-1-1. <br /> Clearly describe location, injury and conditions to dispatcher/hospital. Designate a person <br /> to direct emergency equipment to the injured person(s). <br /> Provide first aid, if necessary. <br /> Call the project manager and/or health and safety officer. <br /> Immediately implement steps to prevent reoccurrence of the accident. <br /> A map showing the nearest hospital location is attached. <br /> 9 <br />
