ROGERS ,JOSEPH O'DONNELL www.rjo.com
Elianna Florido, REHS
San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Dept.
July 24, 2020
Page 5
403: Failed to Keep Hazardous Waste Containers Closed. Walgreens'
hazardous waste training program provides employees with specific information about hazardous
waste handling, including instruction on keeping lids closed when not adding or removing
hazardous waste, in accordance with the CA hazardous waste laws. Any missing lid or failure to
keep the lid closed on a hazardous waste container was a temporary inadvertent employee error
and has been corrected.
605: Failed to Completely Label Containers. Walgreens' hazardous waste
training program provides employees with specific information about hazardous waste
characterization and handling, which includes affixing and proper labeling of each hazardous
waste container with all required information, in accordance with the CA hazardous waste laws.
This proprietary and confidential training program includes use of labels and instruction for
completion; an exemplar label is attached hereto containing all of the information required by
CA hazardous waste laws, specifically CCR 66262.34 (f). Any failure to attach and fully
complete an appropriate waste container label was a temporary inadvertent employee error and
was corrected at the time of inspection. Management has refreshed training for all responsible
employees.
Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. Walgreens has worked
diligently toward compliance with all applicable hazardous waste laws in each store and by each
employee whose responsibility it is to handle and manage hazardous waste. Walgreens
continues to seek ways to build on these efforts and appreciates the CUPA's assistance in this
regard.
Very truly yours,
Renee D. Wasserman
RDW:sci
Encls.
514088.1
A Professional Law Corporation
