Ac ivli(ioi
'I'uslc 1. lnslallution of Additional (',roundsNater Alonitoring Wells
Three soil borings will be advanced at ttie project site. One soil boring will be advanced in the
Lipp adient directiolt of groundwater movellient and two borings will be advanced in the
down, direction of the former underground storage tank. The borings will be drilled to
a total depth of approximately 33 feet below grade, 15 feet beyond the first occurrence of
groundwater or to auger refusal, whichever occurs first. Soil samples will be collected at live-
foot intervals and will be described and logged continuously according to the Unified Soil
Classification System. Soil samples collected at the .water table interface will be analyzed by
a State certified laboratory. The drill cuttings will be stockpiled on site, covered and underlain
by 6 ,,it plastic pending results of laboratory analysis. The three borings will be completed as
groundwater nlr litoring wells using 4 inch diameter PVC screen and casing. The proposed well
locations are shown on Figure 2.
1
Task 2. Well Development and Sainpluig
The top of the well]leads will be surveyed and t11e depths to water will be measured in each well
to evaluate the direction and magnitude of the groundwater gradient beneath the site. The new
wells will be developed and sampled to evaluate the extent of xylene contamination in the first-
encountered groundwater at the site. Purge water from the monitoring wells will be contained
in 55 gallon drtnns pending laboratory analysis.
1_2boiratory Analysis
Soil and groundwater samples will be proper cat n preserved
endfro f benzene,under chain
y s
of custody protocol to State-certified App Analytical Y analysis
ethylbenzene, xylenes(BTEX),and total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline(TPHG)using EPA
methods 8020 and modified 8015, respectively.
2
S C A 1226.SAY
