7% r
k" KLEINFELDER
January RECEIVED
File: 24-2-2 20172172-A00
JAN 2 1 1999
Ms. Diane Baxter ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
City of Manteca PERMIT/31RYICE
Public Works Department
1001 W. Center Street
Manteca, California 95336
Subject: City Well #13
Manteca, California
Dear Ms. Baxter:
Thank you for the information and log of City Well #13. Kleinfelder has been retained by Cal
West Concrete Cutting, Inc. to install and sample a single groundwater monitoring well.
The Cal West site is located at 1153 Vanderbilt Circle in'Manteca. Two underground fuel
storage tanks were removed from the site, and some petroleum hydrocarbon contaminated soil
was excavated and removed. Soil sampling performed confirmed the removal of the impacted
soil.
San Joaquin County is not requiring additional soil assessment or remediation. However, due
to the previous shallow depth to groundwater, San Joaquin County has requested a
groundwater monitoring well be installed adjacent to the backfilled excavation. Kleinfelder is
working with Ms. Linda Turkette at the San Joaquin 'County Public Health Services,
Environmental Health Division [(209) 468-0339].
The monitoring well will be installed to sample first-encountered groundwater, and will be
installed according to State and County requirements.
If you have any questions or need additional information, donot hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
7LDER, N
c S.
