Brick Joseph
Page 2
Reimbursement for investigation costs from the State Water
Resources Control Board's "Underground Storage Tank Cleanup Fund"
are partly dependent upon your compliance with PHS/EHD. Failure
to comply with directives from this regulatory agency may
disqualify you from receiving reimbursement funds.
Therefore, in order to proceed with the progress at this site and
to remain in compliance with this agency, please submit a report
detailing the activities of the September 17, 1991 over-
excavation by September 1, 1992. Please refer to the "Regional
Board Staff Recommendations for Initial Evaluation and
Investigation of Underground Tank Sites" and "Appendix All for the
required report format. Enclosed with this letter is a current
list of environmental consulting firms doing work in San Joaquin
County.
In addition, a workplan to investigate the quality of the
groundwater beneath the site should be submitted to PHS/EHD by
September 1, 1992 . The possibility of using data from existing
monitoring wells located near your site may allow you to be able
to install only one monitoring well at this time.
In order to use one well, the groundwater gradient or flow
direction must be verified as consistent and in one direction.
The placement of your well must be within 10 feet of the original
hydrocarbon source in the verified down gradient direction. If
more than one flow direction is documented, a well in each down
gradient direction will be required.
If you have any questions, please contact Linda Turkatte, REHS,
of my staff at (209) 468-0339 .
ogi Khanna, M.D. , M.P.H.
ealth I+Off 'c r
Laurie A.
