Work Plan For Monitoring Well(MW-8)Installation
2130 West Washington Street Facility
Stockton,California
Sierra-Parc Project No.95-119.02
The new well will be developed by purging with a submersible pump for a period sufficient to
grade the filter pack and flush fine-grained sediments from the well. The well will then be
allowed to settle and equilibrate for at least 24 hours before collecting any ground-water
samples.
3.4 Quarterly Monitoring
Water levels and chemistry of each of the Washington Street wells will be monitored on a
quarterly basis. Several wetted casing volumes of water will be removed from the well with a
submersible pump, and, or disposable polyethylene bailers. The casing volume for a 2-inch-
diameter PVC casing is about 0.16 gallons per linear foot. Sierra-Pacific will monitor field
parameters (pH, conductivity, and temperature) of the purged water until the parameters have
stabilized such that consecutive readings vary less than 10 percent from previous readings before
sampling the well (Appendix B).
3.5 Analytical Work
Geologic and procedural information regarding each sample will be recorded in field notes.
Water samples will be labeled, placed in an iced cooler, and transported to a California-certified
laboratory to be tested for TKN and nitrates (Table 1). EPA sampling protocols will be used
during sample collection and analysis (Appendix C).
Table 1 -- Analytical Methods, Sample Containers and Preservatives J
Parameter EPA Method Container Preservative
Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen (TKN) EPA 351.4 1-500 ml plastic bottle H2SO4
Nitrate (NO,) EPA 300.0 1-500 ml plastic bottle None
J Duplicate water samples will be placed in similar containers, collected under the same protocols,
and analyzed for the same chemical parameters as standard water samples.
-• Sierra-Pacific Groundwater Consultants 4
