existing home, and a second system serves the apartment (Plate 2). A domestic well provides water to the Site. The elevation of the Site, according to a United States Geological Survey topographic map, is approximately 15 feet above mean sea level. The Site is relatively flat (Plate 3). According to the San Joaquin County District Viewer (sjmap.org), the Site is zoned AG- 40, General Agriculture with a minimum parcel size of 40 acres. This zoning designation "is established to preserve agricultural lands for the continuation of commercial agriculture enterprises." Existing and Proposed Septic Tank Usage Existing Septic System Two septic systems are currently located on the Site (Plate 2). Proposed Septic System No new septic construction is proposed. On-Site Septic Permit History The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department septic permit files were searched for the Site address. Three permits were identified: • July 1967 permit for addition to residential septic system at two-bedroom house. A 60-foot leach line was added to the existing system. At the time, Kile Road was considered part of Walnut Grove Road. • September 1974 permit for addition to residential septic system at two-bedroom house. A 70-foot leach line and two sumps were added to the existing system. These permits have been included in Appendix 4 of this report. Existing Septic Tank Usage in the Vicinity To estimate the septic system usage in the area, our office counted septic systems that exist within approximately one square mile surrounding the property. Air photo imagery from Google Earth was used. Each building cluster on the photo was assumed to have one septic system. Using this method, it is estimated that at least 12 septic systems per square mile are located in the immediate vicinity of the Site. The vicinity of the Site is primarily composed of vineyards, with occasional rural residences. LOGE 20-15 Page 2
