02 June 2000
AGE-NC Project No. 98-0466
is anticipated that ground water will be encountered at approximately 30 to 35 feet bsg, and that grab
ground water samples will be obtained from the deep borings at 35 feet bsg.
Properly preserved soil and grab ground water samples will be stored in a chilled container pending
shipment, under chain-of-custody, to a California Department of Health Services (DHS)-certified
analytical laboratory. Soil sample duplicates will be visually described in accordance with the
Unified Soil Classification System on boring logs recorded in the field.
3.3. EQUIPMENT DECONTAMINATION
Probing rods will be cleaned prior to advancing each probe boring. Sampling tools and sample liners
used for sample collection will be thoroughly rinsed with clean water after washing with a solution
of Alconox prior to sampling soil and/or ground water.
4.0. PROCEDURES
Samples will be procured for the additional soil and ground water investigation utilizing a van-
mounted Geoprobe probing unit equipped with 1.125-inch diameter rods and the appropriate
sampling assemble, as described below, or utilizing a hand auger assembly and drive sampler.
Proposed probe boring locations are depicted on Figure 2,but maybe modified as warranted by site
conditions. Sampling equipment will be decontaminated in an Alconox solution and rinsed with
water prior to each sampling run.
The procedures presented below for advancement of soil borings and collection of soil and ground
water samples will be modified as site conditions warrant with PHS-EHD approval. All appropriate
permits to conduct the investigations will be procured from the PHS-EHD. A minimum of 48 hours
advanced notice will be given to the PHS-EHD prior to the initiation of field work. Boring locations
will be marked by AGE for underground utility clearance by American Moulding and Millwork at
least 48 hours prior to the initiation of field work.
4.1. PREPARATIONS FOR FIELDWORK
Prior to conducting field work, the following activities will be conductIld:
• Obtain permits for the soil borings.
• Mark boring locations a minimum of 48 hours prior to field work.
• Notify American Moulding and Millwork, Inc. 48 hours prior to field work to obtain
Advanced GwEnvironmental,Inc.
