BASELINE INVESTIGATION REPORT
• DELTA BULK TERMINALS FACILITY
PARCEL III
PORT OF STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA
FOR
METROPOLITAN STEVEDORE
1.0 INTRODUCTION
The Delta Bulk Terminals (DBT) facility (site) is located at the Port of Stockton on West
S Washington Street, approximately one mile west of Interstate 5 in Stockton, California. The site is
situated in Township 1 North, Range 6 East, MDB&M as illustrated on the Stockton West Quadrangle,
7.5 Minute Series topographic map (Figure 1). The San Joaquin River and the Stockton Deep Water
Channel are approximately 1/4-mile west and north of the site, respectively. The site is nearly flat at an
elevation of approximately 5 feet above mean sea level.
i
The overall area of investigation consists of three adjacent parcels (Figure 1). Parcel I is 4.68
acres, was previously used for coal storage and is planned to be subleased for use as a sulphur
apelletilizing facility. Parcel II, approximately 4.2 acres, was previously used for coal and petroleum coke
storage and is planned to be used for copper and coal stockpiling. Parcel III, approximately 4.3 acres,
• was previously used for copper concentrate storage and is currently used for coal and petroleum coke
storage. Parcel III also contains a rotary railcar dumper and conveyor system for distributing the stored
bulk materials (Figure 2). There are presently four conveyors located on Parcel IN.
t
1
This report presents the results of the Baseline Investigation undertaken on behalf of Metropolitan
5 Stevedore for Parcel III. The Baseline Investigation was performed at the request of Metropolitan
Stevedore to follow up on a Preliminary Site Assessment of the same property (Dames & Moore, 1991).
A separate, similar report has been prepared for Parcels I and II collectively. For reporting purposes,
the overall area of investigation will be referred to as the site. Information specific to Parcel III will be
referred to a such.
i
1
a
i
A
i • SAC28.013 December 20, 1991
a 1
