18 November 1999
AGE-NC Project No. 98-0466
AMM in 1987_ . The screen intervals for the monitoring wells were from 28 feet to 48 feet
below surface grade(bsg)and 31 feet to 51 feet bsg.No information regarding any additional
wells was found for the search area.
According to Mr. Don Shuder of the DWR, Clark Well, Inc. of Stockton drilled most of the
wells in Section 35. He stated that Clark Well,, Inc. has not provided well-information to the
DWR_
• AGE contacted Clark Well, Inc:; Mr. Tom Rooney stated that most of wells in that area
were drilled in the 1950s, and that.he was not sure they still had information that old, and if
theydid, that it would.be almost impossible to find. He remembered drilling at AMM,
formerly Stockton Box Company, and noted that the wells installed were irrigation wells.
The information obtained for the wells by property is as follows:
• American Moulding & Millwork Company - AGE had identified two water wells on-site.
Mr. Glen Gallup and Mr. Chuck Summerville of AM&M re'orted an additional former well
on-the site when interviewed by AGE. The locations of the wells had been misidentified in .
the original-CSR, the corrected locations are shown on Figure 1 for this addendum. Mr.
Summerville remembered that the water wells had been filled with concrete around 1978.
A site inspection by Mr:Summerville and an AGE.representative on 18 October 1999 found
-two .wells abandoned and"a third well, with. a 14-inch diameter steel casing, still open to
ground water. The third well was measured to be approximately 66 feet deep and'was
abandoned on 17 November 1999 under permit and observation by the PHS-EHD. five cubic
yards of cement was required to fill"the.casing.- Three ground water monitoring wells;
installed, onsite to monitor petroleum hydrocarbgns released from an unrelated release, have
screen intervals varying from 28 to 48 feet bsg to 31. to 51 feet bsg, and are still in use.
• San Joaquin Catholic Cemetery- AGE identificd'kthree ground water wells. Mr. Albert Vigil,
the site superintendent, stated that the three wells on the property were used only, for
irrigation;the water was potable, but the staff utilized bottled water for drinking. He said that
one well was 245.5 feet deep, one was.245.9 feet deep and that he didn't know the exact
depth for the third well, but it was approxini ately 245 feet deep. He 'had no further
information concerning the wells, but said that Mr. Harlan Knoll-of Environmental Health
was supervising remediation (gasoline contamination) on the cemetery grounds and might
have further information concerning the wells.,The well log obtained from the DWR for a
well to 218 feet bsg installed at the SJCC may be the third well located 200 feet north of
Harding Way. This well.had perforations in 1-2-inch casing between 194 feet and 214 feet
bsg. The.perforated or screened intervals of the two possibly deeper wells are not known.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.'
