20 May-1999
AGE-NC Project No. 98-0466
observations indicate impacted'soil at'depth, the boring will be extended to greater.depth as field
conditions .permit to assess the vertical extent of impE cted soil. The ground water samples and
selected soil samples will be analyzed for TPH-d and•B EX. As gasoline does not appear to be an
issue, the samples will not be analyzed for oxygenated luel additives. A report of findings will be
prepared, and will be reviewed and approved by a California Registered Geologist.
3..1. SOIL AND GROUND WATER SAMPLING'
Soil probe borings will be.advanced'utilizing a van- ortruck-mounted Geoprobe 5400 equipped with
a soil sampling device. Proposed soil probe boring locati' ns are illustrated on Figure 2. Soil samples
will be collected at intervals as described above.
Grab ground water samples wilI.be collected though a' eoprobe ground water sampling device. It
isanticipated that groundwater will be encountered a approximately 35`feet bsg, and that.grab
ground water samples will be obtained from the deep boring at 35 feet bsg and at total depth.
Properly preserved soil and grab ground water samples ill be stored in a chilled container pending
shipment, under chain-of--custody,,to a California Dep meet of Health Services (DHS)-certified
analytical laboratory. •Soil sample duplicates will be visudIlY ,44pscribed in accordance with the
Unified Soil Classification System on boring logs recor ed in the field:
3.3. EQUIPMENT DECONTAMINATION -
Probing rods, will be cleaned prior to advancing each probe boring. Sampling tools and sample liners
used for sample collection will be thoroughly triple rinsed with clean water after washing with a
solution of Alconox prior-to sampling soil and/or ground water.
4.0: . PROCEDURES _
The procedures presented below for advanccment'of soi borings and collection of soil and ground
water samples will be modified as site conditions warrain with PHS-EHD approval. All appropriate .
permits:to conduct the investigations will be procured fr m the PHS-EHD. A minimum of 48 hours
Advanced notice.will be given to the PHS-EHD prior to Me initiation of field work. Boring locations
will be marked by AGE for underground utility clearance by Underground Services Alert at least.48
hours prior to the initiation of field work. .
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
