20 FIELD AND LABORATORY PROCEDURES
This section provides a summary of the field and laboratory procedures used during the first
quarter 2000 monitoring event
2 1 Sampling Methods And Procedures
Groundwater samples were collected by Dames & Moore on February 28, 2000 Field
records of sampling are attached in Appendix A Prior to sampling, the static water level
was measured at monitoring wells DMW-1 through DMW-7 using an electric water level
indicator All seven monitoring wells were sampled
Groundwater sampling was conducted in accordance with procedures described in the
Work Plan dated September 14, 1998 The sampled monitoring wells were purged using a
' submersible pump, which was steam cleaned prior to use The wells were purged until a
minimum of three casing volumes were removed from each well, and until the
Ifield-measured temperature, pH, and specific conductivity stabilized Purged groundwater
was temporarily stored in a polyethylene holding tank: The wastewater was disposed into
the American Molding and Mill Works sanitary se,.ver system in accordance with the
Special Permit for Wastewater Discharge P 106 984 104, issued by the City of Stockton on
March 10, 1999
Water samples were collected using disposable polyethylene bailers A new bailer was
used at each well One duplicate groundwater sample (MW-70) was collected at DMW-7
The duplicate sample was collected in the same manner as the primary sample, following
collection of the primary sample
"Certified clean" one liter glass sample container,, supplied by the laboratory, were used
during the collection of groundwater samples The samples were placed on ice
immediately following collection, and kept in coolers until delivery to laboratory
2.2 Laboratory Procedures
Groundwater samples were analyzed by STL, Inc located in West Sacramento, California
The samples were analyzed for TPH-D using EPA Method 8015M with Northwest Cleanup
Procedure, which was included to order to remove non-petroleum hydrocarbons Copies of
' the laboratory reports are attached in Appendix B
Dames&Moore 4 }\AFPIREP0RTIQI-2000 floc
