1
June 25 ,1990
Monday
Day # 16
Backfill Continued backfilling and compaction of the West
excavation Compaction testing and controls are by
AIM The compaction test are averaging high 90%
L Work started at 12' below grade and ended at 7'6"
Place sand in bottom of the east excavation and
compacted by using the water jetting method
Visitors Jim Curtis was on site today
Irrigation Jim and I meet with subcontractor Rain For Rent at
10 am Shut off water line feeding fire hoses
north of building 40 AM&K mechanic was installing
a hose bib to fill folk lift radiators
Rain installed a 2 1/2" T ahead of the fire hose
Then installed a 4" main line to the btocell The
4" line crossed over the road way A 2x wood ramp
was constructed over the pipe crossing A automatic
' valve was installed at the north/west corner of
building 40 The valve is controlled by a time
clock located gust inside the same building corner
' The time clock was plugged into a outlet located
35' away using an extension cord
Irrigation system was completed around 3 PM
Suggested that a back flow prevention be placed on
the irrigation line This water service is
domestic service and feeds building 40 toilets and
drinking water
Stockpiled soil Continued to move stockpiled soil from excavation
area to btocell location Completed the moving of
' all soil into btocell from excavation Last day for
10 wheel truck
Soil Testing AIM took sample of clean overburden stockpile to
run a compaction curve Soil may take more work to
use than imported fill Soil dry density was
approx 110 lbs/cf with a OMC of 15%
Overburden Spoke with Bruce S about using overburden a
backfill backfill material OK to place this soil at a
' 6' or 7' level below the surface We should have
less problems making compaction on at the surface
closest to the A/C pavement Bruce said OK Bruce
did not want to buy any more fill than was
' necessary He did not believe that we would have
any regulatory problems have that overburden place
lower in the excavation therefore closer to the
water table
Change Order Spoke with Bruce About CKC change order for out of
scope work Constructing expansion btocell area
