San Joaquin County Public Health Services <br /> Environmental Health Division <br /> November 1, 1994 <br /> Page 3 <br /> 2 0 FIELD PROCEDURES AND PROTOCOL <br /> All field procedures will be overseen by a Dames & Moore geologist Procedures for soil <br /> boring, soil sampling, well installation, well development, and groundwater sampling are outlined <br /> below Site specific Health and Safety procedures will be overseen by the Dames & Moore Site <br /> Safety Officer During the Initial Site Investigation, a Dames & Moore Certified Industrial Hygienist <br /> (CIH) prepared a site specific Health and Safety Plan (HSP) for use by Dames & Moore personnel <br /> The HSP, which will be used during the Additional Site Investigation, discusses protect personnel <br /> responsibilities, analyzes potential Job hazards, details an exposure monitoring plan, identifies <br /> appropriate personal protective equipment, identifies decontamination procedures, and details an <br /> emergency response plan Subcontractors will be required to provide their own health and safety <br /> plan <br /> 2 1 Drilling and Soil Sampling Procedures <br /> The soil boring will be advanced under th technical supervision of a Dames & Moore <br /> geologist under the direction of a California Registered Geologist The on-site geologist will be will <br /> present at all times during drilling to <br /> • Technically supervise the drilling subcontractor, <br /> • Maintain a continuous lithologic log of the borehole in accordance with the Unified <br /> Soil Classification System (USCS), <br /> • Obtain and document soil samples, <br /> • Screen soil samples, drilling cuttings, and atmospheric conditions within the work <br /> place with a PID, and <br /> • Oversee implementation of Dames & Moore's Health & Safety Plan <br /> sac128 18 Page-3 DAMES & MooRE <br />
