Wells Fargo Bank, Stockton Branch
September 6, 1996
Page 5
A corrective action plan was submitted to SJCEHD on March 19963 According to this
report, additional hydrocarbon-impacted soil may be present northwest of the former tank
area and north of the site, on the Wells Fargo property. Finally, Advanced
GeoEnvironmental, Inc. concluded that, based upon feasibility studies and analysis
performed at the Top Filling Station site, a soil vapor extraction system is recommended for
`-' the remediation of hydrocarbon-impacted soils, and that additional assessment is needed for
the remediation of hydrocarbon-impacted groundwater.
City of Stockton Right of Way
The incident involving the City of Stockton Right of Way, 102 South Wilson Way is
immediately south of the subject property. On September 19, 1986, two 500-gallon
underground storage tanks were removed from this location. Subsequent laboratory
analyses indicated that there has not been a release of petroleum hydrocarbons beneath the
- tanks. Therefore, SJCEHD determined that no additional investigations were warranted at
that time.4
49 South Wilson Way
Regarding the subject site, which is located at 49 South Wilson Way, a "Notice of
Reimbursement" was issued on July 3, 1996, requesting that Wells Fargo conducts a site
assessment to determine the extent of contamination in an area adjacent to an underground
tank, the location of which was indicated on a 1950 Sanborn Fire Insurance Map.
B . PROPOSED AND SCOPE OF SERVICES
This Phase II Subsurface Investigation consists of the following objectives:
• Geophysical survey of the areas surrounding the bank building to identify
potential subsurface structures such as USTs and/or associated piping;
• Assessment of subsurface soil conditions beneath the subject site to further,
investigate the potential of an on-site source of contamination;
• Investigation of on-site groundwater conditions to further study the extent of the
known groundwater contamination;
• Chemical analyses of soil and groundwater and geological investigations to aid
with the selection of the appropriate remedial technologies, and to compare the
contamination beneath the subject site with the type of compounds identified at
the nearby LUST sites; and
• Survey of the property and the depth to groundwater to measure and calculate
the groundwater flow direction.
3 Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.,Corrective Action Plan-March 1996,Top Filling Station,
101 South Wilson Way, Stockton, California.
