Workplan for Additional Assessment
49 South Wilson Way
May 4, 1998
Page 5
B . OBJECTIVE AND PROPOSED SCOPE OF SERVICE
The primary objective is to perform an additional subsurface investigation, and then
to obtain regulatory agency closure and receive a no further action order.
For the purpose of establishing the scope,the assumed work is as follows:
Task 1: Site History
Consultant will review available historical data including the above-mentioned
archival photo, to assess the possible former location(s) of historical underground
storage tank(s) (UST(s)) on the site.
Task 2:- Additional Soil Boring
Consultant shall: -
a. Modify the site-specific health and safety plan prior to initiating the field work;
b. Visit the subject property and mark the proposed boring location. Subsequently,
a private underground utility locating service and Underground Services Alert
(USA)will be contacted to clear the proposed boring location for utilities;
c. Cause one(1) 80-foot boring to be made,using a drill-rig equipped with hollow
stem augers,at the location indicated on Figure 2. Soil samples will be collected_
continuously;
d. Submit soil samples at.the historical:high and low "groundwater elevations and
the capillary fringe or every five feet, to be analyzed by a State of California-
approved laboratory for analyses of TPHg/BTEX and oxygenates, using EPA
Methods 8015NV8020 and 8260,respectively;
e. One sample of each different lithology:`will be submitted for analysis of
permeability, porosity, bulk density, moisture content, organic carbon content
and grain size distribution, according to the appropriate American Society for
Testing and Materials(ASTM)standard;and
f. Collect one (1) groundwater sample from this boring and submit the sample to
be analyzed by a State of California ,approved laboratory for analyses of
TPHgBTEX and oxygenates,using EPA Methods 8015NV8020 and 8260.
Task 3: Groundwater' Testing of Existing Monitoring Wells
Consultant shall:
a. Measure the groundwater elevations in the existing wells;
b. Purge each monitoring well of approximately three (3) to five (5) well volumes
until relatively clear water comes into the casing;
''- - - 5 198075-ArFB Stockton,Workplan -
