r STATL OF CALIFORNIA - Environmental Prot—Agency ' PETE WILSON, Governor
CALIFORNIA REGIONAL WATER QU {'Y CONTROL BOARD mr »
CENTRAL VALLEY REGION
3443 Routier Road, Suite A
Sacramento, CA 95827-3098
PHONE: (916) 255-3000
FAX: 1916) 255-3015
31 March 1995
Ms. Catherine Whitworth
Trustee in Bankruptcy for Cal Farm Supply
P.O. Box 280
Davis, CA 95617
RE-SURVEYING REPORT
Thank you for submitting the Re-Surveying Report for the former Cal Farm Supply on West
Washington Street, Stockton. During my review of the report I found that some numbers had been
transposed for the March 1994 sampling event, and subsequently asked for additional information
from your consultant, Kennedy/Jenks. The Request for Additional Information was received on 6
March.
Four of the five monitoring wells were re-surveyed on 25 January 1995, and water level elevations
were measured. Monitoring well #5 was not included in the survey because it was covered with
standing water. I observed the surveyors, and feel confident in the data they generated. I asked
Kennedy/Jenks to recalculate the groundwater gradient for the last four quarters of monitoring. The
re-calculations do not show a major shift in gradient; however, per my request, Kennedy/Jenks has
included the groundwater contour lines on the site maps. This gives a much better picture of the
groundwater gradient, and lends to a better understanding of the site.
During my review of the March 1994 groundwater data, I noticed that there are two Table 1's in the
quarterly report dated April 1994. The groundwater elevations of MW2 and MW3 are different in
each version of Table 1. In addition, the Re-Surveying Report switches the elevations of MWI and
MW4 from those in the quarterly report. I asked Kennedy/Jenks for the original field notes to
determine the actual values, but they have been unable to locate them. Due to the uncertainty of the
data, T ll nG longer use any iruCru.atLor. generated during the March i994 sampling event.
As we discussed during our meeting yesterday, I will be contacting you shortly with details about
the additional plume definition and remediation which will be required by the Regional Board. If
you have any questions, I can be reached at (916) 255-3104.
WENDY WYELS
Ag Regulatory Unit
cc: Ms. Kelye McKinney, Kennedy/Jenks, Sacramento
