Mr. Arnold Hof • - 2 - • 2 May 2012
consecutive data points to support the argument that concentration trends continue to
decline. In its 7 June 2011 letter, Central Valley Water Board staff requested 4 quarters
of monitoring to determine if closure could be considered. In view of the reductions that
have occurred during the past 6 years, the data may show that two consecutive
monitoring events may be sufficient to verify that the trends observed are persistent.
Central Valley Water Board staff commend you for conducting the October monitoring
event, and look forward to verifying that the low concentrations observed in October
2011 are continuing to decline.
When Central Valley Water Board staff concur that the site may be considered for
closure, staff will request that you circulate a fact sheet to adjoining property owners
and other interested parties. This fact sheet will provide a 30-day public notice advising
them of their opportunity to comment or question the proposed closure recommen-
dation. Central Valley Water Board staff concurs that when the Central Valley Water
Board Executive Officer concurs with the closure recommendation, you may destroy all
the monitoring wells.
We look forward to seeing the next monitoring report and to verify the declining trends
of constituents of concern.
