River Road PERMIT/SERVICES
Escalon, CA 95320-9629
FORMER CAL FARM SUPPLY, 2040 W. WASHINGTON STREET,
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
In about 2001, you purchased property at 2040 West Washington Street (Site) that
contained nitrate, petroleum, and benzene hexachloride in groundwater. Annual
groundwater monitoring that you have conducted pursuant to Monitoring and Reporting
Program No. R5-2004-0805 shows that your phytoremediation efforts have reduced
nitrate concentrations in soil and groundwater, and petroleum compounds have not
been detected for several years.
The environmental sampling and analysis data for this Site indicates that the site may
be a candidate for a no further action determination from the California Regional Water
Quality Control Board, Central Valley Region (Central Valley Water Board). In order for
Central Valley Water Board staff to consider whether no further action is appropriate,
four consecutive quarters of groundwater monitoring for the following constituents in the
monitoring wells, as identified in the Monitoring and Reporting Program, are necessary.
• nitrate, petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline and as diesel, MTBE, and benzene
hexachloride.
After reviewing the four quarters of data, Central Valley Water Board should be able to
ascertain if the site can be recommended for closure. Please conduct groundwater
monitoring of the existing wells in the 3rd quarter (August— September 2011), and
provide a report by 1 November 2011.
We look forward to working with you to conclude the Central Valley Water Board's
involvement with the facility.
