1 •
1 After well development, the groundwater monitoring wells will be sampled. Prior to sampling,
all wells will be opened to allow equilibrium of fluid levels. Fluid levels in the wells will then be
1 measured to the nearest 0.01 foot, using an electronic sounder. The wells will be purged of five
casing volumes of groundwater and until stabilization of pH, specific conductance and
1 temperature parameters is achieved. Groundwater samples will then be collected from the wells
in accordance with the appropriate regulatory requirements. Purged water will be stored on site
1 in United Nations approved 55-gallon drums, pending laboratory analysis to evaluate disposal
alternatives.
1 All monitoring wells will be surveyed by a licensed land surveyor, with respect to an established
1 benchmark located on West Washington Street near the Port of Stockton offices. Horizonal
locations will be to the nearest 1.0 foot and elevations will be measured to 0.01 foot. A copy of
1 the surveyor's report will be included in the report.
1 The five existing wells will be sampled at the time the new wells are sampled. Including the
existing wells, nine groundwater samples will be collected and analyzed for pesticides, nitrate,
and ammonia. Four of the water samples will be analyzed for herbicides. Wells MW-1, MW-5,
1 and the four closest surrounding wells will also be analyzed for petroleum hydrocarbons.
1 The soil and groundwater sampling program proposed for the new wells is summarized in
Table 5. This program will include the following methods and quantities:
1 Methods Number of soil Number of water
1 EPA 602 M - expanded BTEX 0 6
• EPA 8015 M - TPH-Gas 0 6
1 EPA 8015 M - TPH-Diesel 0 6
• EPA 608 - organochlorine pesticides 0 9
1 EPA 619 -triazine pesticides 0 9
• EPA 615 - herbicides 0 4
• EPA 300.0 -nitrate as Nitrogen 2 9
1 EPA 350.2 - ammonia as Nitrogen 1 9
1
1 8
1
