2. Results for Second Semiannual Period 2014
i
This section presents the groundwater monitoring results for the second semiannual
period 2014, the status of remediation and other completed activities for the second
semiannual period 2014, and planned activities for the next semiannual monitoring period.
' 2.1 Groundwater Monitoring
The following groundwater monitoring activities were performed in the second semiannual
period 2014 (April through September 2014), in accordance with MRP No. R5-2007-0831.
• Depth to groundwater was measured on September 10, 2014, in 13 of the 15 shallow (less
than 25 feet below ground surface [bgs]) onsite groundwater monitoring wells and
1 deeper (greater than 35 feet bgs) onsite groundwater monitoring well. Depth to
groundwater from N-16 was measured on the following day, September 11,2014,
1 because a wasp nest underneath the cover for the protective monument prevented
access on the initial day. A measurement was not obtained from M-1 because it was not
accessible.
• Groundwater samples were collected on September 10, 2014, from 8 of the 13 shallow
wells scheduled to be sampled and the 1 deeper well scheduled to be sampled. The
sample from N-16 was obtained on September 11, 2014. A sample could not be obtained
from M-1 because it was not accessible. Samples could not be obtained from N-8, M-10,
and M-8 because the groundwater elevation was very low, and there was insufficient
water to collect a sample.
• Groundwater and quality assurance samples were analyzed by a state-certified
laboratory.
' 2.1.1 Methods
The following wells were gauged and sampled:
Order Well Gauge Method
1 Upgradientwells: M-1*, M-2**, M-3** Single-Phase Probe
' 2 Sentinel wells: M-8***, N-18, N-19, N-20 Single-Phase Probe
3 Deep well: N-24 Single-Phase Probe
4 Plume fringe wells: M-10***, N-8***, 0-1 Single-Phase Probe
5 Plume wells: N-7, N-15, N-16, N-17, RW-1 Single-Phase Probe
*Well M-1 was not gauged or sampled because it was not accessible.
**Wells M-2 and M-3 were gauged only and not sampled, as scheduled.
***Wells M-8, M-10, and N-8 were not sampled because of insufficient water due to low water levels.
ES101214202053SCO 2-1
