Service Station 171
located at 1250 N. Wilson Way in Stockton, California. This proposal is
in response to your written request of May 23, 1188 and is subsequent to
a previous investigation performed by Hydrotech Consultants . As we
understand it, Thrifty Oil Co. is seeking the services of an
environmental consultant to perform an additional assessment of the
presence of petroleum hydrocarbon contamination in the soil and/or
groundwater at the aforementioned station.
To that end and in accordance with specifications in your request for
proposal (RFP) , Woodward-Clyde will install three 4-inch diameter
monitoring wells at the approximate locations shown in the RFP. Based
on the Hydrotech report, which estimated groundwater to be situated
30 feet below grade, we assume all wells will be completed to a depth of
50 feet. The wells will be installed in accordance with Sections 2647
and 2648 of the California Underground Storage Tank Regulations and in
compliance with local agency requirements and permits. Following
completion, relative casing elevations will be surveyed to estimate the
local groundwater gradient .
Soil samples will be collected at 5-foot intervals to a depth of 40 feet
or one interval below the point at which groundwater is encountered,
which ever occurs first Once the depth to groundwater is established
in the first boring, the intervals may be adjusted slightly in
subsequent borings to ensure a sample is taken in close proximity to the
air/water interface . Sampling will be in accordance with California
Underground Storage Tank Regulations and handled per FPA Chain-of-
Custody procedures. The site stratigraphy, as encountered in the
borings , will be described in detail using the Unified Soil
Classification System. Soil cuttings generated during drilling will be f
.ee
