MA
i
Coca-Cola Enterprises - West
job No. 90054
5.0 CONCLUSIONS
The scope of work, as described in this report was to investigate the extent of potentially
contaminated soils and or groundwater at the Coca-Cola site. The data was used to
determine locations for groundwater monitoring wells and soil borings. The conclusions
-. made in this report are based on the data collected and our best judgment. These
conclusions are as follows-
0 The contaminant plume extends around the tank and about 10 feet northwest
of the former tank Iocation.
o There has been no apparent migration of contaminants off-site.
6.0 RECOMMENDAMNS
Based on the results of USTEC's investigation, we recommend the following actions:
o Prior to remediation, USTEC recommends that a contamination assessment be
conducted to further define the vertical and horizontal extent of the
contamination.
a The additional exploration would include drilling eight to ten soil borings to
a maximum depth of 10 feet below the groundwater level (about 50 feet).
These borings would be field screened for volatile compounds to assess
— potential soil contamination.
a Four of the soil borings would be converted into monitor wells to assess
potential groundwater contaYnination, static water levels and direction of flow.
o Establish a quarterly sampling and monitoring program to provide baseline
data and to track the potential migration of contaminants.
o Chemical analysis would be performed on selected sail and water samples by
an independent state certified laboratory. Analysis would include EPA methods
8015, modified for gasoline and diesel and EPA method 8020 to scan for
volatile organic compounds, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes
(BT'EX).
_ 7
