,W.
t$
Coca-Cola Enterprises - West
Job No. 90054
screen placed above the static water level to allow for water level fluctuations. About 50 to 60
ra feet of blank PVC casing was added to bring the well to existing surface grade. Following the
installation of the slotted and blank PVC casing, the annulus of each well was packed with
t.
Number 2/12 RMC: Lonestar silica sand from the bottom of the borehole to a height of about
2 feet above the top of the well screen. A 2 to 3-foot thick bentonite seal using 1/4-inch
bentonite pellets was placed on top of the silica sand pack and hydrated with about 10 gallons
of potable water. The remaining annular space was then sealed with a cement grout (nine sack
s mix). All groundwater monitoring wells were completed with flush-mounted,water-tight,traffic
i--s rated well vaults set in 2-foot by 6-inch thick concrete pads. The installation permits for each
well are presented in Appendix D. The typical groundwater monitoring well construction
details are illustrated on Figure 4. A summary of the boring and groundwater monitoring well
construction details is presented in Table 1.
3.5 GROUNDWATER MONITORING WELL DEVELOPMENT
Each groundwater monitoring well was developed to ensure the screen transmits groundwater
that is representative of the groundwater in the surrounding formation and to increase well ,
efficiency. All groundwater monitoring wells were developed with a bailer and surge block.
Following surging,.about five well volumes were bailed from the well to remove sediment from
e
the bottom of the well and visually inspected until the turbidity of the discharge was
F
determined by a USTEC hydrogeologist to be the best obtainable.
i
All water from the development process was contained in Department of Transportation (DOT)
Y•9 -
i approved 55-gallon steel drums. Due to very low concentrations of contaminants in the
groundwater as indicated by the analytical results, the development and purged waters will be
1
' aerated on-site. Analytical results are discovered in Section L.2 of this report.
i4.
i `
7
i
