S
f
r
INTRODUCTION
Definition:
A Quality Assurance Program is an organization-wide network
designed to ensure that data produced within that network
conforms to the highest standards set by state and/or federal
regulations. The network functions at the management level
through company goals and management policies; it functions
at the analytical level through standard operating procedures
and quality control. These two levels are spanned by data
control and the reviewing process. The end result is a data
. package that is accurate, reproducible, and is presented in
such a way as to be most useful to the client.
Scope:
Sequoia Analytical analyzes thousands of environmental and
industrial samples every month. Chemical, physical, and
biological parameters must often be measured on the same
% sample. As such, the Quality Assurance Program must be able
to accommodate the complications implicit in the analysis of
many samples of widely varying matrices.
Purpose:
The Quality Assurance Program provides a means by which the
integrity of data can be verified. Because industrial,
engineering, and environmental decisions are based on the
J' data produced, it is essential that clear and extensive
verification procedures exist. Accuracy, precision,
completeness, and representativeness are all aspects of a
data package that verify the integrity of the analysis.
- The Quality Assurance Program is also a useful historical.
document. The chronological development of any Quality
Assurance Program relies on the adequate docua'_ntation of
previous programs. Improvements and modifications can `ie
_ instituted only if an established frame of reference -, ;ts
and the comparative efficacy of such cY:<; .? s can be ju_7.;td.
_ Lastly, the Quality Assurance Program is the format throe':1
which Sequoia Analytical can express its goals, policies, and
commitment toward the generation of data of the highest
s
