SKTH <br /> OGIES CORPORATION <br /> August 4, 1995 <br /> ' 94318-5-10 <br /> Ms Linda Turkatte AUG 4 1995 <br /> San Joaquin County Public Health Services <br /> Environmental Health Division ENVP0N`MENT LCESt7H <br /> ' P O Box 388 <br /> Stockton, CA 95201-0388 <br /> Subject Addendum to Workplan for Limited Site Investigation, Former Coca-Cola <br /> Distribution Facility, 1100 North Wilson Way, Stockton, California <br /> Dear Ms Turkatte <br /> In response to your June 16, 1995 correspondence regarding the "Workplan for Limited Site <br /> ' Investigation", Smith Environmental Technologies Corporation (Smith Environmental) is pleased <br /> to present this addendum to the workplan to address your comments The subsurface <br /> investigation is proposed to provide supporting data for site closure at the Former Coca-Cola <br /> Distribution Facility in Stockton, California (Figure 1) <br /> Also, per your request we are providing you with site plans, a cross-section showing soil <br /> lithology and analytical data for the areas of concern, and supporting data from USTEC's <br /> "Contamination Assessment Report", November 1990, and from RESNA Industries, Inc 's <br /> "Addendum One to the Remedial Action Plan for Soil Remediation" (Attachment I) <br /> Soil Vapor Extraction System <br /> ' RESNA Industries, Inc , now Smith Environmental, installed a vapor extraction system (VES) <br /> at the site to remove petroleum hydrocarbons from soil beneath the site The VES was <br /> ' constructed under Authority to Construct No N-2568-2-0 and consists of Airex Corp Model <br /> Retox 600 Thermal Oxidizer with a 40hp blower, knockout drum, three vapor extraction wells <br /> (VEW-2, VEW-3, and VEW-7), underground piping, and associated electrical and <br /> instrumentation Wells VEW-2, VEW-3, and VEW-7 are screened from 8-28 feet, 8-30 feet, <br /> and 8-30 feet below ground surface (bgs), respectively The VES began operating on July 23, <br /> 1993 An inspection was performed by San Joaquin County Unified Air Pollution Control <br /> ' District who subsequently issued a Permit to Operate (PTO) The system was monitored weekly <br /> in accordance with the conditions of the PTO In December 1993, a modification to the PTO <br /> was approved to reduce monitoring to bimonthly In addition, VES influent and effluent vapor <br /> ' samples were collected for laboratory analysis of total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline <br /> (TPHg) and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX) The vapor extraction system <br /> has removed over 3,700 pounds of petroleum hydrocarbons from soil beneath the site The <br /> system was shut down in April 1995 due to electrical problems and has not been restarted <br /> 1710 Main Street • Escalon,CA 95320 (209)838-3507 • fax(209)838-3509 <br /> Engineering Consulting Remediation • Construction <br />
