Second Quarter 1993 Monitorung Report
Coca-Cola Enterpnses-West
Project No 54006 02
Page 3
' as diesel (TPHD), and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX) utilizing EPA
methods 5030/8015/8020
' Groundwater well purge and sample logs are provided in Appendix A
RESULTS OF LABORATORY ANALYSES
' Water samples collected from wells MW-1, MW-2, and MW-6 were analyzed for TPHG,
TPHD, and BTEX using modified EPA methods 5030/8015/8020. These results and cumulative
results of laboratory analyses are summarized in Table 1. The Cham of Custody Record and
' laboratory analytical reports are included in Appendix B
Results of this quarter's laboratory analyses of water samples from wells MW-1, MW-2, and
' MW-6 indicate the following
• The concentration of benzene detected in well MW-1 decreased since the last monitoring
episode The benzene concentration of 25 parts per billion (ppb) exceeded the State of
California Department of Health Services Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) for
drinking water of 1 0 ppb The concentration of total xylenes detected in MW-1
remained at 3 2 ppb and is below the MCL of 1,750 ppb The toluene and ethylbenzene
concentrations increased from nondetectable (<0 5 ppb) to 2 0 ppb and 0 69 ppb,
respectively These concentrations are below the State Action Level (AL) of 100 ppb for
' toluene and the MCL of 680 ppb for ethylbenzene
' • In well MW-1, the concentration of TPHG decreased from 500 ppb to 61 ppb since the
previous monitoring episode in March 1993 TPHD remained nondetectable
' • The concentration of benzene detected in well MW-2 decreased from 6 3 ppb to 3 2 ppb.
The benzene concentration exceeded the MCL for drinking water of 1 ppb
Concentrations of toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes increased since the last monitoring
' episode to 1 3 ppb, 0 54 ppb, and 2 3 ppb, respectively The toluene concentration was
below the State AL of 100 ppb, the ethylbenzene concentration was below the MCL of
680 ppb, and the xylene concentration was below the MCL of 1,750 ppb
' • The concentration of TPHG in well MW-2 decreased from 130 ppb to nondetectable
(<50 ppb) TPHD remained nondetectable
• Concentrations of BTEX detected in well MW-6 increased since the last monitoring
episode from nondetectable (<0 5 ppb) to 2 5 ppb, 3 7 ppb, 1 6 ppb, and 5 6 ppb,
2QMR1993 FNL
