4.8 Laboratory Analyses <br /> The analysis of the soil and groundwater samples collected during the field <br /> activities will be performed by American Environmental Network (AEN) of Pleasant Hill, <br /> California, a California-certified analytical laboratory <br /> Soil samples will be analyzed for benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes <br /> (BTEX) (EPA Method 8020), polynuclear aromatics (PNAs) (EPA Method 8270), and total <br /> extractable petroleum hydrocarbons (TEPH) for Cg-C36 (EPA Method 8015M with crude oil <br /> standard) Fingerprinting using the Gas Chromatograph—Flame Ionization Detector (GC-FID) <br /> method will be performed on samples with TPH-impacted soils At least two samples will be <br /> obtained for this analysis Friedman and Bruya, Inc , of Seattle, Washington, will perform the <br /> fingerprinting analysis <br /> Groundwater samples will be analyzed for BTEX constituents (EPA Method 8020), <br /> PNAs (EPA Method 8270), total purgeable petroleum hydrocarbons (TPPH) for C4-C,2 (EPA <br /> Method 8015 with gasoline standard), and TEPH for C1CC24 (EPA Method 8015M with diesel <br /> standard) Because of potential interference with soluble nonpetroleum hydrocarbons and <br /> nondissolved petroleum sorbed to particulates entrained in the groundwater samples,the removal of <br /> these interferences will be performed using a silica gel cleanup A summary of the proposed <br /> laboratory analyses is provided in Table 3 <br /> 4.9 Decontamination and Waste Containerization <br /> Drilling equipment will be steam-cleaned within a self-contained unit provided by <br /> the drilling subcontractor and after drilling each boring Soil sampling equipment will be cleaned <br /> between sampling intervals with an Alconox' and water solution followed by a triple rinse using <br /> tap water and deiomzed water Deionized water will be used during third rinse <br /> • <br /> Preliminary Site Investigation Work Plan-Draft June 30 1998 <br /> Roberts Property(Former Vernalis Pump Station) <br /> Vernalis,California <br /> 14 <br />
