6,0 SAFE WORK PRACTICES AND ACCIDENT PREVENTION <br /> This section describes the standard safety procedures that Radian requires all on- <br /> site personnel to follow <br /> 6.1 General Safe Work Practices <br /> All on-site personnel will observe the following general safe work practices <br /> • No food, drink, or tobacco products will be allowed in the exclusion and <br /> contamination reduction zones, <br /> • Loose clothing, hair, and jewelry will not be permitted around moving <br /> equipment, <br /> • Whenever possible all work will be conducted upwind of potentially <br /> contaminated sites, <br /> • Location of buried utilities and pipelines shall be clearly marked on the <br /> ground prior to excavation, <br /> • Personnel shall check for overhead power wires power to operating <br /> equipment, <br /> • Contact with contaminated or suspected contaminated surfaces shall be <br /> avoided Personnel shall not walk through puddles, or discolored surfaces, <br /> kneel on the ground, or lean, sit, or place equipment on any potentially <br /> contaminated surface or the ground, <br /> • All personnel are responsible for monitoring the condition of their <br /> personal protective equipment, <br /> + Personnel and equipment in the contaminated area shall be minimized, <br /> consistent with effective site operations, <br /> • The "buddy system" will be implemented, whereby a pair of coworkers <br /> "watch out" for each other while in the proximity of potential physical <br /> work hazards, and <br /> + Aerosolization of contaminated soil, sediment, and water will be prevented <br /> where possible <br /> 6-1 <br />
