Appendix D Direct Push Bonng Investigation Phase II ESA Multi-Modal Station `Six-Block Project" January 6,2003 Page 8 of 15 ■ Detection borings DBK5-829-1 and DBK5-829-2 were advanced using a Geoprobe 5400/5410 drill rig with four-foot rods These borings were thus advanced to a depth of 44 feet bgs instead of 45 feet bgs ■ Detection boring DBK5-829-3 was advanced to 40 feet bgs using a Geoprobe 5400 dn11 rig with four-foot rods The boring collapsed prior to installation of the temporary well screen and consequently,no groundwater sample was collected ➢ Two Geoprobe borings (GBK5-843-1 and GBK5-843-2) and two detection borings (DBK5-843-1 and DBK5-843-2) were installed in the parking area of 843 E Weber Avenue, an auto body repair shop ■ No groundwater samples were collected from detection borings DBK5-843-1 and DBK5- 843-2 Access to this property (843 E Weber Avenue) was terminated by the property owner's legal council subsequent to the advancement of these borings but before groundwater elevation data and groundwater samples could be collected Access to the property was granted three days after the advancement of the borings for purposes of grouting the open boreholes No visual or PID indications of contamination were noted during the investigation activities at Block 5 3 3.7 Block 6 From May 28 to May 29, 2002, five Geoprobe borings and four detection borings were installed on three parcels of Block 6 Geoprobe, detection, and hydropunch boring locations for Block 5 is presented in Figure 11, Appendix A ➢ One detection boring(DBK6-128-1) was installed at 128 N Aurora, a paved parking area ➢ Two Geoprobe borings (GBK6-915-1 and GBK6-915-2) and one detection boring (DBK6-915-1) were installed inside the building at 915 E Weber Avenue, an auto body repair shop ■ Detection boring DBK6-915-1 met refusal at a depth of 20 feet bgs and therefore, groundwater samples were not collected ➢ Three Geoprobe borings (GBK6-931-1 through GBK6-931-3) and two detection bonngs (DBK6- 931-1 and DBK6-931-2) were installed at 931 E Weber Avenue ■ Detection boring DBK6-931-1 was installed in the parking area comprising the southern portion of the property and the remaining borings were installed inside the building occupying the northern portion of the property o A strong odor and elevated PU) readings were noted at GBK6-931-1, the first Geoprobe boring advanced inside of the building located at 931 E Weber Avenue The boring location was selected to correspond to an existing hole in the concrete floor in the northwest comer of the building The impacted soil did not appear to be widespread as no indication of contamination was observed in the adjacent borings GBK6-931-2 and GBK6-931-3, located approximately six and 20 feet away from GBK6-931-1, respectively
