Appendix D Direct Push Bonng Investigation <br /> Phase II ESA Multi-Modal Station'Six-Block Project" <br /> January 6,2003 <br /> Page 9 of 15 <br /> 4.0 DISCUSSION OF RESULTS <br /> 4.1 RIGHT-OF-WAY <br /> Between May 14 and September 13, 2002, two Geoprobe borings, 23 detection borings, and eight <br /> perimeter borings were installed in the right-of-way of the six streets that enclose and transect the six- <br /> block field area, as well as the railroad right-of-way properties (Figures 5 - 11, Appendix A) <br /> Laboratory analytical results indicated that only chloroform and the CAM 5 Metals were detected in soil <br /> samples collected from the right-of-way Chloroform was detected at a concentration of 0 014 milligrams <br /> per kilogram (mg/kg) in composite soil sample DR2-7,10,15 The CAM 5 Metals (cadmium, chromium, <br /> lead, nickel, and zinc) were detected in samples PS2-6 5, PAI-6, PAI-10, PAI-15, DGI-6, and D132-7 <br /> The CAM 5 Metals were all detected at concentrations below the United States Environmental Protection <br /> Agency (EPA) Region IX Preliminary Remediation Goals(PRGs) <br /> The laboratory analytical results indicate acetone, 1,1-dichloroethene (1,1-DCE), cis-l,2-dichloroethene <br /> (cis-1,2-DCE), chloroform, 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA), trichloroethene (TCE), toluene, <br /> tetrachloroethene (PCE), and m,p-xylene were detected in the groundwater samples collected from the <br /> right-of-way Acetone was detected at concentrations of 15 and 9 7 micrograms per liter (µg/L) in <br /> samples PS2-5/14/02 and DA3-5117/02,respectively 1,1-DCE was detected at concentrations of 5 2, 64, <br /> 14, 3 2, 0 9, and 1 1 gg/L in samples DG3-5/21102, DC3-5/21/02, DC4-5121102, DC6-9/13102, DRl- <br /> 5/17/02, and DR-5/20/02, respectively Cis-1,2-DCE was detected at a concentration of 5 2 tig/L in <br /> sample DG2-5/16102 Chloroform was detected at concentrations of 0 S, 0 5, 0 S, 1 0, 0 9, 13, 0 7, 1 1, <br /> 13, 0 7, 0 7, 1 1, 3 6, 0 7, 0 6, and 0 6 µg/L in samples PS2-5114/02, DG3-5/21/02, DG5-5123102, DA2- <br /> . 5/17/02, DA3-5/17102, PAI-5115/02, DMI-5115102, DM3-5/16102, DCI-5/17/02, DC2-5117/02, DC6- <br /> 9/13/02, PWI-5/21/02, DR1-5/17/02, DR2-5120102, DR3-5/20/02, and DR5-5122/02, respectively 1,2- <br /> DCA was detected at a concentration of 3 5 µg/L in deep groundwater sample PA 1-114-5/15/02 TCE <br /> was detected at concentrations of 0 6, 0 6, 0 7, 0 5, and 0 5 pg/L in samples PS4-5/22102, DG4-5122102, <br /> PG1-5/22102, and DR4-5/22102, respectively Toluene was detected at concentrations of 17, 0 6, 18, 0 7, <br /> 2 6, 15, 13, and 0 9 µg/L in samples PS4-5/22/02, DGl-5/16/02, DG4-5/22/02, DG5-5/23/02, PGI- <br /> 5/22/02, DR4-5122102, and DR5-5/22/02, respectively PCE was detected at concentrations of 2 4, 0 5, <br /> 0 5, 42, and 9 1 µg/L in samples DG2-5116/02, DG3-5/16102, PGI-5/22102, DA3-5117102, and PAI- <br /> 5/15/02, respectively M,p-xylene was detected at a concentration of 0 5 µg/L in sample PS2-5114102 <br /> 4.2 BLOCK 1 <br /> Between May 31 and June 6, 2002, twelve Geoprobe borings and three detection bonngs were installed <br /> on four parcels of Block 1 Geoprobe and detection boring locations for Block 1 is presented in Figure 6, <br /> Appendix A <br /> Laboratory analytical results of the soil and groundwater samples collected from the Block 1 properties <br /> indicate that no VOCs were detected in the soil samples However, toluene was detected in two <br /> groundwater samples (DBKI-701-1-6/5102 and DBKI-750-1-6/5102) at concentrations of 10 and 18 <br /> µg/L, respectively, and PCE was detected in one groundwater sample (DBKI-722-1-6/5/02) at a <br /> concentration of 1 0 µg/L The toluene and PCE concentrations are all below the California Maximum <br /> Contaminant Levels for those constituents <br />
