0 0 Page 1 of 2
Raymond von Flue [EH]
From: Alan McCutchen [alan@njminc.com]
Sent: Tuesday, December 16, 2008 12:58 PM
To: Raymond von Flue [EH]
Subject: RE: NJM Response to 14 November 2008 Notice to Comply
Ray,
Thank you for the quick reply and the information.
We will discontinue the use of our old drip can and dispose of it properly.
In the future may use the portable diesel tank on large off-site jobs to refuel our equipment. We may also sell this
tank. For now, it is being stored on our property with the fill nozzle taped over and tagged "out of service, do not
fill'. From my understanding diesel fuel has a long shelf life. So the small amount of diesel remaining in the tank
should not present a problem when the tank is eventually refilled and put back into service.
With regards,
Alan McCutchen
From: Raymond von Flue [EH] [mailto:rvonflue@sjcehd.com]
Sent: Tuesday, December 16, 2008 9:40 AM
To: Alan McCutchen
Subject: RE: NJM Response to 14 November 2008 Notice to Comply
Alan,
In response to your corrective actions statement, item 3, regarding the container of waste paint stored in the paint
booth. I agree that capturing paint drips is an effective house keeping practice, but because the paint was
determined to be waste it has to be managed as such. The contents of the container could be transfered to
another container that has a start date on it or the container be considered a satellite container. I have attached a
fact sheet for accumulation time for HW generators.
Also if you are no longer going to use the 500 gallon portable diesel fuel tank, what will be done with the tank? If
the tank is left empty, the residuals inside should be managed properly. Please let me know how the tank will be
managed.
Raymond von Flue
Senior Registered Environmental Health Specialist
San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department
600 E.
