October 16, 1995 UEC Document No.: R -1659510A <br />UEC Job No.: 165040-9510C <br />5.0 GENERAL SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS <br />5.1 Minimizing Emissions To The Atmosphere <br />It is imperative during cleanup activities to sufficiently wet all soil being worked by the asbestos abatement <br />crew; applying copious amounts of water during cleanup activities will help to eliminate any visible <br />emissions which may occur due to such activities. Furthermore, as previously suggested, the heavy <br />equipment shall not have tracked tires. <br />5.2 Asbestos Abatement Worker Protection <br />It is the responsibility of the asbestos abatement contractor to provide the appropriate personal protective <br />equipment to its crew at all times; a Health and Safety Plan shall be kept on site, as required by the Cal - <br />OSHA, by the asbestos abatement contractor. The UEC staff will be participants in the daily safety <br />meetings expected to take place prior to the commencement of work prior to each work shift. <br />Universal Engineering Company is committed to monitoring both the air and soil conditions prior to, <br />during, and after cleanup activities at the subject site.
