Frankloin Fueling Systemos - Phil-Tite <br />25000 COLLECTORS 5 GALLONS <br />(VOLUME) TESTING PROTOCOL <br />Date: August 15, 2006 <br />California Health & Safety Codes, Chapter 6.7, Underground Storage of Hazardous <br />Substances <br />• 25284.2 Spill Containment Structures; Testing Requirements - states that an owners or <br />operators of a UST's shall annually test the spill containment structure to demonstrate <br />that it is capable of containing the substance until it is detected and cleaned up. <br />• 25295.5 Unauthorized Release; Spill or Overfill; Notification; Qualification for Funds <br />states: <br />(a) an unauthorized release includes, but is not limited to, a spill or overfill of a <br />hazardous substance that meets both of the following conditions: <br />(1) The spill or overfill occurs while the hazardous substance is being placed into <br />the UST. <br />(2) The spill or overfill is due to the use of improper equipment, faulty equipment, <br />operator error, or inattention or overfilling. <br />(b) A person who causes an unauthorized release of a hazardous substance <br />specified in subdivision (a) shall immediately notify the owner or operator of the <br />UST that a spill has occurred and the owner or operator shall comply with the <br />requirements of Section 25294 or 25295, which ever is applicable. <br />} (c) A spill or overfill shall not qualify for funds provided pursuant to Section <br />25299.51. <br />K] <br />California Code Regulations Title 23, Division 3, Chapter 16, Underground Tank Regulations <br />2635 INSTALLATION AND TESTING REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL NEW UNDERGROUND <br />STORAGETANKS <br />All underground storage tanks shall be equipped with a spill container and an overfill <br />prevention system as follows: <br />(1) The spill container shall collect any hazardous substances spilled during <br />product delivery operations to prevent the hazardous substance from entering <br />the subsurface environment. The spill container shall meet the following <br />requirements: <br />(A) If it is made of metal, the exterior wall shall be protected from galvanic <br />corrosion. <br />(B) It shall have a minimum capacity of five gallons (19 liters). <br />(C) It shall have a drain valve which allows drainage of the collected spill <br />into the primary container or provide a means to keep the spill <br />container empty. <br />1 of 7 <br />
