Integrated Site Operating Controllers (SOCs) are a new development to the <br />industry. For several years there have been systems that offered tank level <br />gauging and line leak functions, however, a closer evaluation of these <br />products revealed that they contained only stand alone tank level gauging <br />controllers and line leak controllers mounted in a common enclosure. <br />Significant performance gains are achieved when all external and internal <br />sensor signals, located at one site, are processed by one controller. Events <br />identified by one sensor can then be used to better control or evaluate the <br />events of another. <br />An example was previously mentioned where the activity of the product pump, a <br />known value in the line leak system, can be used to abort and then re -start <br />the tank testing function. This allows the tank testing function to always be <br />active during times of no pumping activity, thereby not affecting sales. <br />The tank level probe can be used to stop the pump when the tank level reaches a <br />predetermined low point. This eleminates potential pump motor <br />overheating. <br />The Integrated Site Controller can be used to automatically alternate between <br />tanks when two tanks are used for the same product. In this case, the tank <br />level probe is used to identify which of the two tanks has the highest level. <br />This tank will be used on the next pumping cycle. Tank selection by level <br />allows the tanks to empty at a uniform rate and thus improve the product <br />ordering/delivery process. <br />The Integrated Site Controller can project the anticipated tank levels for 12, 24, <br />36, or 48 hours into the future, for all products, based on recent sales <br />volume. This projection is constantly updated based upon the most recent <br />sales. Upon achieving a preset low level in any tank, the controller can <br />automatically place an order, for all products, to make the most efficient <br />use of the specific delivery trucks. <br />Control ieers, U.S.A.
