Listed RED THREAD® 11 pipe, manufactured by Smith Fiberglass Products. Secondary contain- ment systems consist of the next larger size of pipe and special two-piece fittings. Refer to Manual 9474 or 1055 and Bulletin 1004 for installation instructions for the U.L. Listed pipe and to Manual 9106 for tapering tool operating instructions. • A. Containment Piping Smith Fiberglass Products double-wall secondary contain- ment sizes are: Containment For Product Pipe Size Pipe Size 3" RED THREAD 11 2" RED THREAD II 4" RED THREAD II 3" RED THREAD II 6" RED THREAD 11 '4" RED THREAD II B. Containment Fittings Available double-wall secondary containment fittings are 45° elbows, 904 elbows, tees, nipples, couplings, and termination concentric reducers (with or without 3/4" NPT threaded outlet). C. Adhesive for Containment Piping Use only DS -7014 or DS -7069 adhesive manufactured by Smith Fiberglass Products for installation of Smith Fiberglass Products double-wall secondary containment piping systems. SECTION II PREPARATION AND ASSEMBLY A. Pipe Preparation Cut off factory spigots and couplings as needed. Couplings may be needed for making containment pipe size reductions or straight pipe runs. Spigots may be needed for pipe runs or for making a containment sump connection. The ends of the containment pipe must be machined or thoroughly sanded for a length of at least 33/4". Any surface irregularities must be removed. This is most easily accom- plished by using a Smith Fiberglass Products secondary con- tainment scarfing adapter kit. This kit consists of a special blade (33/4" long), blue blade holder, and 3" & 4" gauges which are required to set the tool. The kit is easily adapted to the 2"-6" Smith Fiberglass Products standard tapering tool. Slide the proper size gauge all the way to the back of the mandrel. Insert the special blade into the blade holder with the square end leading and the wide side next to the blade holder. The square end of the blade must touch the tool body. Rotate the tool body to the position shown in Figure 1 making sure that the blade rests against the gauge. After positioning the black mark on the gauge under the blade, be sure the blade makes uniform contact with the gauge. The tool is now prepared to remove the gloss from the ends of the containment pipe. After removing the gauge, insert the tool into the pipe to be machined until the blade just touches the end of the pipe. Tool must be rota- ted in a counter -clockwise direction. Advance the tool in approximately 1/4" increments after each revolution and con- tinue machining operation until the gloss has been removed for a minimum length of 33/4".
